How did you get started writing?
As far as I can remember, I've always enjoyed writing. I used to write short stories, poems, and song lyrics when I was a kid. In my teens, I always carried a journal around during the day and wrote in it all the time, and when I was back home I waited for my family to fall asleep to sneak out of bed and stay up all night writing short stories on the shared desktop computer (we're talking about the 90s, I didn't own a laptop back then, most people didn't).
I started writing fantasy novels as a hobby when I was in college but only recently decided to actually pursue a career as a writer. Unfortunately, I never took my writing seriously before. I thought I had to have an office job to be a proper grown up. Fortunately, I came to my senses and realized life is too short not to do what I enjoy doing.
Do you have any advice for writers?
Write a book that you would love to read and take a leap of faith.
Where do you get your ideas from?
Anything can trigger an idea; a book, a movie, a song, a poem, a painting even.
Are any of your characters based on real life?
No. My characters comes straight from my head. Of course, the world and the people around me can have an influence on me, and therefore, indirectly influence on my writing.
What is your favorite book?
I like so many books, it's hard to choose a favorite one these days. Maybe Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift as it was the first book I read in life that made me realize books were actually fun and not just homework. As far as I can remember, it was the first book I read that I really enjoyed reading.
What are your hobbies?
Trying different coffee shops, reading, traveling by myself, and going on road trips; I love driving and will always find time to drive around the UK or Brazil when I go back to visit my family every year.
